Jen Bawden

Jen Bawden is a best-selling author, speaker, philanthropist, impact investor, and serial entrepreneur passionate about disruptive technologies, with a decade in Homeland Security technology solutions. Jen co-founded, invested in and helped build a Dept. of Homeland Security Anti-Terrorism Technology company, co-founded by the U.S. DOE, and funded by DNDO (Domestic Nuclear Detection Office) to develop and deploy technologies to protect global infrastructure from chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear attack. The award-winning sensor technology was built to protect seaports, borders and critical infrastructure. A co-founder of Blue Horizons, she is now building next-generation nanotech, high-capacity, environmentally friendly batteries that last 40+ years, charge in minutes not hours with an energy density four times lithium. In 2000 Jen was the only female and the youngest managing director at a NYC technology venture capital firm. She was a former advisory board member of an oncology company that won the prestigious Frost & Sullivan award for best pancreatic cancer diagnosis and treatment company and is a current advisory board member of Admie Mobile, an advanced peer-to-peer data synchronization tech company. Jen was briefly the Technology Editor at News USA, a contributing editor to Hamptons Magazine, and wrote a syndicated column in Canada about her life in NYC.

Committed to making a difference for children, civil rights & empowering women (as a committee member of UN Woman for Peace & The Foundation for Gender Equality). Since her 20s, Jen raised millions of dollars as chairman, co-chairman or Jr. chairman of some of New York’s most prominent nonprofit fundraising events and organizations, including The Guggenheim, The New York City Opera, The American French Foundation, and The Manhattan Foundation which awarded her the Manhattan Award honoring individuals who have made a special contribution to the city’s spirit, excellence, and compassion. Under the patronage of Governor Pataki, Jen was the co-founder and co-chairman of the Metropolitan Foundation Celebrity Gala for over 13 years, raising money for breast cancer and Robert Kennedy’s charity River Keeper.
